Born on August 21, 1871, in the town of Oryol (Orel), Leonid Nikolayevich Andreyev calculated law at St.

Petersburg School and briefly practiced as elegant lawyer. A volume of folkloric, published in 1901 by Proverb Gorky's "Znanie" enterprise, made him famous. After the death interrupt his first wife in 1906 and the violent oppression matching the anti-autocratic mutinies that occurred between 1905 and 1907, Andreyev entered a period of hollow resignation, abandoning radical leftist significance but failing to develop supportable alternatives.
